Google Tag Manager
A step-by-step guide on how to send elbwalker data to Google Tag Manager
The Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a popular tag management solution that allows you to create and update tags for your web and mobile applications.
With elbwalker you can send event data to the GTM dataLayer using the walker. On this page we will explain to you, how to do that in detail including examples to show you how much easier your life gets once you start collecting data through the walker.
In general events will automatically be pushed in the dataLayer like this:
1
{
2
"event": "<entity> <action>",
3
"entity": "<entity>",
4
"action": "",
5
"data": {...} // All your properties
6
"walker": true
7
}
Copied!

Activate the Google Tag Manager destination

  1. 1.
    Navigate to destinations and add a new GTM destination.
  2. 2.
    Activate the Google Tag Manager destination with the toggle and you're done ✅
Please make sure you implemented the elbwalker script and tagged the events and properties that you want to send to GTM. All tagged elbwalker events at this point of time will be available in GTM. If you add events later on after you activated the destination, you will have to manually add the events to the list if you also want to send them to GTM.
Make sure you have tagged all the properties that are required by the 3rd party tool on your site to make your tags work.
